 DISSERTATION WRITING HELP TIPS  _________________________________________________

Here are some basic Dissertation Writing Help tips that you can follow:

 1. Always start with the title page and make sure the dissertation title is in capital letters and centred.  Allow at least a 4 space line before writing your name (also centred).  Add more lines then add the name of University and academic department.

 2. Then move on to the Acknowledgements section. This is where you thank those that have helped you in writing your dissertation.  Don't forget to include your lecturer's name in this section too.

 3. Next move on the Table of contents. The contents should include all of your dissertation chapters and sub chapters with their relevant page numbers.

 4. Next is the dissertation's Abstract and Proposal.  The abstract should consist of one or two paragraphs summarising the important points of the dissertation.  The proposal is normally covered in the dissertation's introduction.

 5. The introduction should include a statement of the problem under research with a short overview of your study and the significance of it.

 6. Once you have completed the introduction, it is time to move on to the literature review.  The dissertation literature review should contain all the facts, research and data and is seen as the main body of the whole dissertation.

 7. In the methodology you should state your data collection methods and population size.

 8. Finally, you should write a conclusion based on your research findings making sure you are precise.

When you are writing a dissertation, you must clearly read your University's requirements and guidelines and frequently discuss the study with your lecturer to make sure the dissertation meets their demands.  Don't allow the length or word count of your dissertation to distract you, once you have proper guidelines to follow, the dissertation won't seem too taxing to write.

Writing a good dissertation can depend on many different factors, here are some of the most important points that you should consider:

 1. Don't choose a dissertation topic that is too broad.  Make sure you have narrowed down the topic as much as possible, if you haven't done this it will be harder to manage and ultimately write up.

 2. Make sure you know what academic writing format your University is requiring of you.  Confirm whether your dissertation needs to be either written in a Harvard, MLA, APA or Chicago Turabian style before you start putting pen to paper.

 3. No matter how boring carrying out research is, be persistent and carry it out in an in-depth manner.  Look for pertinent material and collect as much of it as possible.  Then afterwards you can sift through this research and and choose the most relevant research needed for your dissertation.

 4. Not being adept at academic writing is no excuse when writing a dissertation. Practice and practice hard at it and your writing skills will improve as you go along.

 5. You do not need to write the dissertation in order of chapters.  Normally you would start with the literature review chapter first, then move onto the analysis and methodology, after this you would complete your conclusion and recommendations, before completing the dissertation with the completion of the abstract and introduction.

Following these simple guidelines can help ensure that you produce a high quality dissertation for lecturer and University.
